Some Ideas of Our Final Assignment – Susanna and Terrenz

We are interested in environmental issue and would like to produce learning object related to this issue.
Topic: Sound Pollution
Mobile phone, MP3, PSP and other different kinds of technologies become part of our life. It seems that many people cannot live without these technologies. However, the noise generated by these technologies does affect our health, both mental and physical, just like the case of uncle bus and youngster with glasses.
Thus, we would like to produce a single screen learning object with animation and interaction that P6 students can be used to explore the cause and effect of noise pollution on our body.
IT tools used: PowerPoint, Photo Impact and Flash.

  • I guess that you'll present how the sound level of the devices can be harmful to our hearing health. Am I right?

Then, the input parameter will be the sound level and the output parameter will be the hearing loss. Do you mean it all?

  • Would you require student to classify the effect of noise pollution on mental and physical health separately?

  • It's a good topic.
Maybe through your application students can adjust the noise level of different audio devices and then it will show how serious it would be in impairing our hearing system.

  • It is an interesting topic.
Other than the effect and the cause, you can include the solution of the problem. For instance, in Japan, people would not talk in the public transport. In order to avoid distrubing the others. They will use SMS,MMS , etc.. rather than communicate by talking through the mobile phone.

  • Interesting. The concepts of pollution should transfer to the new generation as earliest as possible. I think your learning object will be favorable to the young students.

  • It is a good topic as the student could learn what is noise pollution and will aware of this when they growth up. Particularly, they will protect their ear and avoid any noisy sound.

  • We would like to show impact of noise to our hearing so that students can be aware of the noise around them.
